July 9, 2019
On July 3-4, 2019 a working meeting on the project “DIAS - Collaborative Data and Information Exchange Network for Managing Invasive Alien Species” took place in the Värtsilä Village.
The meeting was gathered to discuss the project progress and upcoming activities. In particular, the participants considered the plant and animal species lists to be posted on the website dedicated to invasive species, which is being developed on KarRC RAS web portal within this international project.

At the beginning of June, reconnaissance expeditions to Vodlozersky National Park and Kizhi Island were implemented by a joint team of researchers from the Forest Research Institute and Northern Water Problems Institute of KarRC RAS and the University of Oulu within SUPER (Sustainability under pressure) project of the Karelia CBC Programe.

On June 5, 2019 KarRC RAS staff participating the project “DIAS - Collaborative Data and Information Exchange Network for Managing Invasive Alien Species ” under ENI Karelia CBC Programme took part in the EcoKizhi environmental education event organized by the Kizhi Open Air Museum in the framework of the World Environment Day.

On April 25, 2019, a working meeting was held at KarRC RAS with representatives of the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in St. Petersburg, as requested by the Norwegian counterpart.

On April 24–25, 2019 the kick-off seminar of the project “Salmonid Fish and Freshwater Pearl Mussel - Riverine Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity in the Green Belt of Fennoscandia” (SALMUS) took place.
SALMUS project is implemented within the Kolarctic Cross Border Cooperation (CBC) 2014–2020 Programme.

On December 13th the kick-off seminar of the project “Collaborative Data and Information Exchange Network for Managing Invasive Alien Species” (ENI CBC Karelia Programme) took place in Joensuu.

On November 7, 2018 KarRC RAS took part in the kick-off seminar of the project “Sustainability under pressure: environmental resilience in natural and cultural heritage areas with intensive recreation” (SUPER) of the Karelia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 (ENI CBC Karelia).

In October 2018, the Memorandum on co-operation between Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Finnish Environment Institute (Helsinki) was signed. The Memorandum will be in force for 5 years.

On October 15 to 19, 2018 the 10th Pan-European Green Belt Conference took place in Eisenach, Germany, and Karelian Research Centre RAS took part in the event.
