On September 14–15 experts discussed the topics of climate change, environmental security, sustainable use and study of natural resources, green energy, development of green tourism, and others.

This forum is designed to promote cooperation at the regional level in this interstate alliance. The conference participants are scientists, representatives of authorities, and experts from BRICS counties.

Representatives of authorities, scientific organizations, and the expert community of Russia, India, China and South Africa will discuss the prospects of interaction between the regions of this interstate alliance.

Karelian Research Center RAS has signed agreements on cooperation with scientific and educational organizations of the Republic of Belarus. Scientists will cooperate in the fields of economics, humanities and natural sciences. Special focus is on the study of mire and forest ecosystems and development of biotechnology in agriculture. Signing of the documents took place during the visit of KarRC RAS delegation to Minsk.

Experience gained while implementing cross-border and transnational cooperation programs can be useful in new interregional and international collaboration areas. This idea was emphasized in the talk given by KarRC RAS Director General Olga Bakhmet at the 20th Strategic Planning Leaders Forum in St. Petersburg.

Scientists from Karelia and China had an online seminar on the various perspectives of water research. Experts introduced topics of high relevance for their regions and countries and pinpointed mutually interesting research areas. The event may pave an avenue for long-term cooperation between the Karelian Research Centre RAS and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
